ERCC DELEGATIONS TO LEAVE FOR NORTH AMERICA AND THE UK THIS AFTERNOON
Basseterre, St. Kitts (October 13, 2006): The Electoral Reform Consultative Committee (ERCC) will travel this afternoon to Miami, Florida, where its members will separate into two delegations; one headed to Canada then cities in the United States and the other to the United Kingdom.
The ERCC – established for the St. Kitts and Nevis Electoral Reform Exercise – will hold consultations with St. Kitts-Nevis Nationals residing in Toronto, New York, Washington DC, and Miami in North America, and Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff, and London in the United Kingdom.
The ERCC Delegation to North America will be comprised of Mr. Elvis Newton (ERCC Chair), Mr. Clive Bacchus, Mr. Douglas Wattley, and Ms. Mutryce Williams. Ms. Atasha Morton, a stenographer will be accompanying them.
The ERCC Delegation to the United Kingdom will be comprised of Mr. Elvin Bailey, Mr. Clifford Thomas, and Mr. Clement “Bouncin” Williams. Ms. Agnes Farrell, a stenographer and Ms. Valencia Grant, the Press Officer for the Electoral Reform Secretariat will be accompanying them.
The first meeting in North America will be held in Toronto at the Council Chambers in City Hall on Sunday 15, October 2006 at 2:30 p.m. The United Kingdom delegation will also hold their first meeting that evening in Leeds at the West Indian Centre in Chapeltown. It will start at 7:00 p.m.
Below are the details for the other public consultations that will be held over the next two weeks.
North America:
For New York City, the venue is MAESTROS located at 1703 Bronxdale Avenue in the Bronx. The meeting will be held on Sunday 22, October 2006 at 5:00 p.m.
For Washington, DC, the venue is the OECS Building (Conference Room) located at 3216 New Mexico Avenue, NW. The meeting will be held on Thursday 26, October 2006 at 6:00 p.m. Electoral Reform Consultative Committee (ERCC) members will be available for private consultations at the OECS Building on Friday 27, October 2006 from 6:00 p.m.
Stay tuned for the Venue and Time in Miami. The meeting date for Miami is Sunday 29, October 2006.
United Kingdom:
For Manchester, the venue is Barn Hill Studio, Barn Hill, Moss Side. The meeting will be held on Tuesday 17, October 2006 at 7:00 p.m.
For Birmingham, the venue is Afro Caribbean Millennium Centre, Dudley Road. The meeting will be held on Thursday 19, October 2006 at 7:00 p.m.
For Wales, the venue is Bute Town Community Centre, the Docks. The meeting will be held on Saturday 21, October 2006 at 7:00 p.m.
For London, the venue is Kingfisher Youth Club, Crest Road, Neasden. The meeting will be held on Monday 23, October 2006 at 7:00 p.m. The 25th and 26th are to be finalized.

The Electoral Reform Consultative Committee (ERCC) concluded its public consultations in St. Kitts and Nevis last night at St. Johnston’s Community Centre.
Stakeholders in the reform process who reside in St. Kitts and Nevis and abroad have until October 30 to submit recommendations to the ERCC via e-mail at erccsubmissions@gov.kn, by phone at (869) 467-1555/1554, or by post or in person to the St. Kitts and Nevis Electoral Reform Secretariat, Former Development Bank Building, Church Street, Basseterre.
